NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Nomination Period

The Gamma Beta Phi Society is excited to announce the nomination process for our 2020 – 2022 National Executive Committee (NEC).  Every year, the Gamma Beta Phi Society will elect new NEC Student Members and new NEC Members-at-Large. Every two years, the Gamma Beta Phi Society will elect a new President, President Elect, Chapter Advisor Representatives, and Professional Member Representatives. The NEC plays a vital role as it relates to the direction of our national organization. As the highest leadership body of the Society, the NEC completes the following:

  • Determining the mission and purposes of the organization; 
  • Selecting and evaluating the performance of the National Executive Director; 
  • Strategic and organizational planning; 
  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management; 
  • Fundraising and resource development; 
  • Approving and monitoring the Society’s academic and community service opportunities;  
  • Enhancing the Gamma Beta Phi Society public image; 
  • Assessing its own performance and adhering to the Society’s Code of Ethics as the governing body

In order to accomplish these goals, the Society regularly elects new NEC members. To submit a nomination for one of the following positions below, please click HERE. A completed application will included an online submission (which will include a Resume/CV and a Cover Letter describing your interest in serving on a national board). Nominations must be submitted by Friday, December 6th, 2019. 

Once all nominations are submitted, 1 Chapter Advisor and 1 Student Representative from each active Chapter will be given an opportunity to vote in January, as specified within our National Constitution. The results will be announced at the February 2020 National Convention. Below, you’ll find the expectations and duties regarding each NEC position. 

(1) PRESIDENT (2-YEAR POSITION)

  • Monthly call or Skype to NED for Headquarters update
  • Request quarterly income/expense report from Headquarters
  • Monthly Webinar to NEC on updates from Headquarters, Regional Developments, and National Projects/Campaigns
  • Quarterly Webinar with NEC to review income/expense reports
  • Monthly Webinar to Regional Senators for open discussion
  • Oversee the Yearly evaluation of the NED under the guidance of the NEC by June 30th
  • Facilitate National Project selection with NEC
  • Review financials with NEC at biannual meeting to include but not limited to Inductions, Merchandise Sale, Operational Costs for Headquarters, and Payroll.
  • Facilitate the appointment of committees as needed
  • Facilitate National Convention organization/management with Headquarters, NEC, Regional Officers, Host Chapters, and Vendors
  • Master of ceremony at national convention
  • Quarterly meeting as needed with CPA and Legal Representation of the Society 
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed 

(1) PRESIDENT ELECT (2-YEAR POSITION)

  • In Absence of the President the above responsibilities will fall to the President Elect 
  • Facilitate monthly Town Hall discussions with Regional Senators
  • Facilitate biannual Town Hall discussions with Chapter Advisors
  • Oversee the vetting process for the DCA and ECA Awards/designation
  • Chair of Scholarship Committee for Student Scholarship awards
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed 

(2) ADVISOR MEMBERS (2-YEAR POSITION)

  • Facilitate Town Hall Discussion at the beginning of each academic year
  • Develop and facilitate webinars for Chapter Advisors each Fall and Spring
  • Mentor for other advisors
  • Facilitate advisor meeting during National Convention
  • Facilitate presentations of Advisor awards at Regional and National Conventions
  • Work with Headquarters to establish and maintain an electronic mailing list of Members-At-Large 
  • Facilitate webinars and serve as Advisor for Members-At-Large
  • Serve on Scholarship committee for Student Scholarship awards
  • Facilitate candidate spotlights for Headquarters biannual Newsletters
  • National and Regional Committee assignments as needed
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed 

(1) PROFESSIONAL MEMBER (2-YEAR POSITION)

  • Act as liaison with area and chapters
  • Work with Headquarters to establish and maintain an electronic mailing list of Professional Members
  • Work with Headquarters to maintain and update Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) for with graduates of chapters to promote Professional Membership
  • Network with Local and Regional Professional
  • Facilitate candidate spotlights for Headquarters biannual Newsletters
  • Facilitate professional meeting and social during national convention
  • National and Regional Committee assignments as needed
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed 

(5) STUDENT MEMBERS (1-YEAR POSITION)

  • Facilitate Town Hall Discussion at the beginning of each academic year
  • Develop and facilitate webinars for Student Leadership each Fall and Spring
  • Work with Headquarters to establish and maintain an electronic mailing list of Student Leadership
  • Facilitate student meetings during national convention
  • Facilitate candidate spotlights for Headquarters biannual Newsletters
  • Students will help facilitate attendee door prizes at National or Regional Conventions
  • National and Regional Committee assignments as needed
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed

*** NEC Student members must serve as Regional Senators first, before being eligible to run for this particular position.  

(1) MEMBER-AT-LARGE MEMBER (1-YEAR POSITION)

  • Work with Headquarters to establish and maintain an electronic mailing list of Members-At-Large
  • Facilitate webinars in tandem with Advisor Members for Members-At-Large
  • Facilitate Member-At-Large meeting and social during national convention
  • National and Regional Committee assignments as needed
  • Attendance at local chapter inductions, Regional meetings or chartering as needed

*** Any MAL who is currently enrolled in school is eligible to run for this particular position. 

REGIONAL SENATORS

2020 – 2021 NOMINATION PERIOD

Gamma Beta Phi Regional Senators play a pivotal role within the Society. Regional Senators are student leaders who serve as directors of the regions they represent for activities for undergraduate student members including facilitation of communications with chapters. As the Regional Senator, they serve as the spokespersons for the chapters in their region and assist National Headquarters with initiatives to recruit new chapters and members. They also assist in the retention of existing chapters and members, and work to help reactivate chapters that have recently gone inactive. Their overall goal is to cooperate with Chapter Advisors and Headquarters to maintain current rosters for chapters in their region. Furthermore, they hope to collaborate with alumni members to identify recruitment tactics in their region. Finally, they will assist with the promotion of major programs and events, including our National Conventions. Any student member who is active within their local Chapter is eligible to run for a Regional Senator position!

The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, December 6th, 2019.  A completed application will include an online submission, a resume, and cover letter, and a professional headshot.  In addition, your submission must include a letter of recommendation from their local Chapter Advisor (submitted via e-mail to National Headquarters at info@gammabetaphi.org).  Senators will be elected in the spring, announced at the 2020 National Convention, and begin their tenure during the summer of 2020. 

The Regions are comprised of the following states:

Region I – Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington DC, West Virginia 

Region II – Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Virginia 

Region III – Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee 

Region IV – Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas 

Region V – Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin 

Region VI – Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon 

Region VII – Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Washington, Wyoming

Once all nominations are submitted, 1 Chapter Advisor and 1 Student Representative from each active Chapter will be given an opportunity to vote in January, as specified within our National Constitution. The results will be announced at the February 2020 National Convention.
