I am a 30 something non-traditional college student who has a passion for helping others. I am originally from Florida and moved to North Carolina more than 10 years ago after having lived some time in Germany. I worked in retail management when I moved to North Carolina from Germany but ultimately decided that was not for me and made the decision to go back to school and pursue my bachelors degree. I am on track to finish my degree next year after a few minor setbacks. I recently moved from Raleigh to Durham and currently work for Durham Technical Community College in the Information Technologies Department. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family whenever possible. In my spare time I like to cook, listen to music, go to concerts, watch movies, play board games, and travel to new destinations.

I am currently serving in my 2nd year on the NEC as a student member and have thoroughly enjoyed my time. I believe I have more to contribute to the NEC and Gamma Beta Phi. I have served as my local chapter’s Student Government Rep, Vice President, and President over the past few years. I have also served in various leaderships in Durham Tech’s local chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa, as well as Durham Tech’s Student Government Association. My vision for the position is to continue to contribute my thoughts and efforts in our mission to help our members and for the betterment of the society. Our decisions and work directly effect the function and flow of the society which is crucial to its continuance. As I said above I love helping others, especially helping those find their path in their journey to success and completing their goals in life.

One previous local board I was a part of was for this organization at my high school in California called La Fuerza. This organization was basically about exploring Latin and Hispanic culture as well as make leading events/performances for Hispanic Heritage month. I was a student member, and we’d help plan events, socials for future meetings, help create flyers for events, etc. I personally helped more than other student members, though I didn’t bother to run for higher positions on the executive board. This was the only previous experience I’ve had on a local board.

My interest is to fill a role where I will have an important responsibility that will push the Society forward. I am efficient and very diligent with my work. I make sure that things that need to get done, get finished. I am good at organizing tasks and orienting myself in a way that will be very useful. I am also not afraid to add my opinion as well as ask others for theirs. I like to work in teams a lot, bouncing ideas off of one another is one of my favorite ways to brainstorm for events and things like that. My vision as a member in any of these roles is to put in my part and more in order to really push this Society to make it the best it could be.
