If you are interested in starting a Chapter of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the process is simple. All you need is the desire to have one of America’s most active community service organizations on your campus.
There is one key element required to start a chapter, this key element is an Advisor (someone employed at the school). Our National Constitution, as well as most school policies, requires an Advisor for every student organization. If necessary, we will gladly assist you in finding an Advisor.
Once we have an Advisor in place, the Advisor goes to the registrar’s office and requests the contact information for all the students eligible to join. The National Headquarters will then send an invitation to every student that qualifies for membership.
This invitation will serve three purposes:
- The invitation will inform the student that he or she has been recognized by The Gamma Beta Phi Society, which is the initial requirement for membership.
- The invitation invites the student to an information meeting(s) where a representative(s) from the National Headquarters will introduce everyone to The Gamma Beta Phi Society.
- Finally, the invitation invites the student to the induction ceremony, should he or she take advantage of the opportunity for membership.
Once the new members are inducted, they need to elect officers, create Chapter By-laws, and decide on meeting dates and times. At this point, the chapter will select projects to work on, finalize any operational procedures, and settle into the rewards of membership.
Through this entire process, the National Headquarters will provide all the materials needed, all support staff needed, and assist in every aspect of getting the chapter up and running.
If you would like to inquire about starting a chapter of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, please contact Jimmy McNutt, Assistant National Executive Director, at 800-628-9920. He would welcome the opportunity to discuss this distinct organization with you.
