Greetings from the National Executive Director,
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I am so excited about this upcoming year. Last year we made great strides in all areas. At the end of our fiscal year, our expenses were down, we were able to pay off a lot of debt, and we increased our number of new members, and added several exciting new chapters to The Society.
We already have three potential Chapters completing their paperwork to become new Chapters. So, this year is starting off with a bang.
I want to share with you several important pieces of information. First, at this year's National Executive Committee (NEC) Summer Meeting, a student member on the NEC moved to increase the National Fee to $60.00 from $55.00, a $5.00 increase. This is the first increase we have had in over five (5) years. The move was seconded and it passed unanimously by the NEC. Therefore, please make note, the new National Fee is $60.00.
Second, the 2011 National Convention is going to be held at the Radisson Orlando Celebration Resort. Please go to the website and click on National Convention for complete details. The National Convention is October 7 and 8, 2011, and the resort is beautiful. Just minutes from all the Disney Parks and many other activities. The deadline to register is September 23, 2011. But, please go to the website for complete details. We will have the agenda posted on the website soon.
The National Project is still The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). This could change at the National Convention, but for now, this fall, we are again going to assist the BGCA.
In the middle of last year, we uploaded a new version of our website. We have had some software issues and other minor problems we have been working to correct. Some of our documents did not upload correctly. There is a lot of material out there, and we are working to ensure it is all correct. So, please bare with us.
I will be sending out another mass email soon. In the meantime, please start preparing to attend the National Convention. The hotel is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the Convention is going to be great.
